After the fluctuating temperatures of early spring, the warm month of May is finally here!
Did you know that in Seoul there are lots of great places for walks in the spring night?
In fact, the palaces in Seoul boast some of the best courses for nighttime walks. The ancient palaces, full of traditional Korean beauty, are not only gorgeous during the day but are also look fabulous at night.
Even this year is the 10th anniversary of the K-Royal cultural festival❗
Let's take a look around the palace, which has become a famous tourist attraction! |

1️⃣ Gyeongbokgung Palace

As the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeongbokgung Palace was also the center of urban planning in the old capital city of Hanyang.🏰
The sight of over 500 buildings densely packed together is truly magnificent!
It's well-known as a spot for great photos because the scenery looks great no matter where you take them.📸
By the way, if you wear a Hanbok, admission for night viewing is free, so make sure to take advantage❗❕
As you stroll around the palace grounds, you will feel as though you have traveled back in time to the Joseon Dynasty!🤴

<Special Program> In addition to the regular night tours, Gyeongbokgung Palace offers a special program called “Gyeongbokgung Starlight Tour”, This unique experience allows you to not only enjoy traditional Korean music performances but also have a taste of royal cuisine!
This program is so popular booking a ticket in advance can be challenging–almost like trying to catching a star in the sky above Gyeongbokgung!

Deoksugung Palace is a perfect harmony of its modern Western-style Seokjojeon Hall and its traditional Korean wooden structures!🏛
Located right in front of Exit 2 of City Hall Station, it is one of the most accessible palaces in Seoul!🚶♀️🚶♂️
Unlike Gyeongbokgung and other palaces that require reservations, Deoksugung is always open, even at night!
Don’t miss the chance to enjoy sparkling nighttime sceneries at Deoksugung Palace right in the center of Seoul!🌃

<Special Program>
The special program “Seokjojeon at Night” offers modern interpretations of various cultural activities at Seokjojeon Hall that provide a glimpse into the life of the Korean emperor at Deoksugung Palace, the imperial palace of the Korean Empire.
You can enjoy tea and snacks at the Seokjojeon Hall terrace café, and take in original musicals in the reception hall!
But as this is another highly popular program, advance booking is essential, so be sure to book early! |

3️⃣ Changgyeonggung Palace

Changgyeonggung Palace, located next to Changdeokgung Palace, is another palace the Korean royal family used to reside at.
Just like Deoksugung Palace, it is always open for nighttime viewing, making it easily accessible to visitors!
In the Great Glass House, which is a Western-style greenhouse, you can view a great variety of plants. Known as a popular spot for dating, be sure to traverse these tranquil and enchanting palace grounds with your loved ones. 👫💞
This year, a special “Changgyeonggung Moonlight Tour” program is taking place for night viewing. It features an exploration program centered around media art❗❕
Unlike other palaces, Changgyeonggung offers “freestyle” viewing, without the need to make reservations. Take advantage and make a visit!

1️⃣ Seoul Museum of History

The Seoul Museum of History, located next to Gyeonghuigung Palace, is a museum that allows you to glimpse the history and culture of Seoul at a glance. You can observe Seoul's transformation from the mid-Joseon period to the present day!
Take a stroll through the recreated streets of old Jongno at the video experience zone and visit the Seocho Samho Apartments, where people lived during the millennial Seoul period. You be invited to a housewarming party there! 🏘🏙
The highly anticipated urban model exhibit incorporates IT in a multimedia exhibition. You can view the entire city of Seoul at a 1/1500 scale! 🌃
Not only that, the museum offers a number of experience programs, such as hopae (traditional identification tag) making and eco-bag making with Gyeonghuigung's dancheong patterns. If you want to delve deeper into the beautiful city of Seoul, be sure to visit the Seoul Museum of History!

2️⃣ National Museum of Korea

Interested in learning more than just the history of Seoul? Then come and learn about Korean history and traditions at the National Museum of Korea!
The 10-story stone pagoda of Gyeongcheonsa Temple, renowned as a national treasure, welcomes you at the center. The museum showcases not only artifacts from the Stone Age to modern history but also a wide variety of artistic paintings and sculptures.
Join a regular guided tour, which is available in four languages, or utilize the multilingual brochures and didactic panels to learn about Korea more deeply..
A highlight of the museum is the Immersive Digital Gallery, where artworks from three museums have been digitally brought to life. There is also an Interactive Media Room where you can experience AR and VR.
With a variety of convenience facilities including restaurants, a food court, cafes, and even an outdoor garden, you can take a break and relax if you get tired while exploring.
In addition, you can look over and purchase popular merchandise that is trending among Generation MZ, including the Pensive Bodhisattva, which gained fame when BTS member, RM, purchased it at the MU:DS brand showroom on the 3rd floor.
Before you leave, don't forget to take photos of N Seoul Tower from the stairs of the Open Plaza, or at the some of the BTS shooting locations!

A Word from the Seoul Tourism Organization!💌
If your travel schedule aligns with the palaces’ night viewing hours, make sure to take part in some of their special programs.
You will hear secret stories not shared during the daytime tour guides and discover special areas that are only open to the public at night!
Making reservations can be fiercely competitive due to their immense popularity, so be sure to make your booking in advance. The palaces are beautiful and renowned as photo spots, making them worth a visit, especially while wearing a Hanbok.
Across from the National Palace Museum of Korea, you will find various Hanbok rental shops. We highly recommend renting one and taking advantage of the free admission to capture some unforgettable photos!
